Week 10- The one where they swept the National League leader

New, 6 comments

Things weren’t awful this week! In fact, they were good!

MLB: Texas Rangers at Washington Nationals Brad Mills-USA TODAY Sports

Season record: 30-32

Week 10 Record: 4-1

Series Record: 8-11, 2 splits

That week was not too shabby. Especially considering it started out looking like they would be lucky to win the weekend series and even luckier if Beltre didn’t end up back on the DL.

Would you look at them now. A sweep against the Nationals, who had the best NL record coming into the weekend series and the major’s highest scoring offense. And Beltre recovered from that sprain ankle, no problem.

Ideally the Rangers would’ve swept the Mets but I’ll take a one loss week. Rangers still managed to gain some ground on Houston who has lost 4 of their last seven games following their 11 game win streak.

Some highlights for the week:

Yu Darvish got his 900th strikeout.

Beltre is just 47 hits away from 3,000. He also got his annual stolen base this week.

Elvis has continued his hit streak to a major league best 15 games.

On Sunday, Austin Bibens-Dirkx got his second win, pitched seven innings in under 100 pitches. He retired 19 straight at one point, only giving up a solo home run in the first inning and just three hits and one walk. He also beat Max Scherzer.

Alex Claudio needs to be in the All Star Game. Just like Elvis should be.
