Texas Rangers rumors: The MLB draft kicks off tonight at 6 p.m., and MLB.com has the final mock drafts from both Jonathan Mayo and Jim Callis up.

Mayo has the Rangers taking Valdosta, Georgia lefthanded pitcher D.L. Hall at #26, and Arlington Martin high school outfielder Tristen Lutz at #29. Callis has the Rangers going with Lutz at #26, and taking Smithville, Tennessee, righthanded pitcher Steven Jennings at #29.

Hall falling to the Rangers would be a surprise...BA has him at #16 on their list, and he’s generally been expected to go somewhere in the teens, well before the Rangers pick.

Lutz and Jennings are both guys who have been linked to the Rangers for a while. We didn’t do a write-up on Jennings, but he’s a righthanded pitcher who is also the quarterback for his high school team. Jennings tore his ACL playing football, but is back on the mound this spring. He’s athletic, projectable, all the things the Rangers like from their prep pitchers.

You can check out our write-up on Lutz here.

Baseball America also updated their mock draft today, but still have the Rangers going with Tanner Houck and Sam Carlson, the same as their Friday version.
