Texas Rangers 2017 MLB Draft prediction post

Who do you think the Rangers will select at #26 and #29 this evening?

The MLB Draft kicks off at 6 p.m. tonight, with the first two rounds being televised. Rounds 3-10 will be on Tuesday, and 11-40 on Wednesday. You can get all the details on following the event here.

The Rangers have two picks in the first round — their own pick at #26, and a compensatory pick at #29 for losing Ian Desmond in free agency. The new CBA has changed how compensatory picks for losing free agents are doled out, and most likely, the Rangers’ comp picks in the future will be after the second round, rather than the first round, so we have to enjoy this multi-first-round-pick bonanza now, while we still can.

This post is your opportunity to show off your prognostication skills — in the comments, offer your prediction for who you think the Rangers will take at #26, and who the Rangers will take at #29. No prize for whoever gets it right or the closest, but you can pat yourself on the back.

My prediction is that California high school shortstop Nick Allen is the Rangers’ pick at #26, and Minnesota high school RHP Sam Carlson is the pick at #29. I’m probably wrong, though.

Good luck!
