If you believe in the theory of infinite worlds, tonight's game is the universe where last night's game diverted.
Down 2-0 in the fifth tonight, the Rangers rallied to score a run to make it 2-1. This is the same thing as last night's game.
However, while last night's one run in the fifth felt like the start of a comeback, tonight's one run felt like disappointment as the Rangers turned a bases loaded, no outs situation against a rookie tiring in his first start into just one run on a wild pitch.
So, after snuffing out a potential game-altering rally, the Astros came out in the bottom of the inning and scored a couple of runs to prove that this universe is unkind version of yesterday's happiness.
Then, in the seventh, Houston took an hour knocking the crap out of the ball for a half inning and it was 13-1 Astros. On one fork in the road, there was Rougie homers and a Rangers comeback, on the other, there was this disaster.
Whatever. The Rangers went 5-1 on this road trip where many were expecting something like 1-5.
Player of the Game: Joey Gallo hit a baseball over the garish Minute Maid batter's' eye in center field like 470 ft. It was more exciting than anything the Astros have ever done.
Up Next: The Rangers are off tomorrow for the final time this month before beginning a series in Arlington against the Seattle Mariners. In Friday's series opener, Tyson Ross is set to make his debut with Texas.
