Texas Rangers utility infielder Hanser Alberto had shoulder surgery yesterday, per the beat guys, and is expected to miss the remainder of the 2017 season.

Alberto has been on the disabled list all season, and is currently on the 60 day d.l. He’s been dealing with the shoulder problem all season, and had started a rehab assignment earlier this month, but made it just five games before being pulled off.

Alberto was in line to be the Rangers’ utility infielder this season. Instead, Jurickson Profar filled that role at the start of the season, and Pete Kozma has the job now.
