Texas Rangers starting pitcher Cole Hamels will be activated from the disabled list and start for the Rangers in Cleveland on Monday, per the beat guys, assuming his bullpen session today goes well. Hamels had a good rehab start for Frisco on Wednesday, and at that point it was expected he would be back. Hamels has been on the d.l. since early May with an oblique injury.

Meanwhile, just when it appeared the rotation was getting back to full health, Martin Perez tore a thumbnail and broke the tip of his thumb in a hotel door on Thursday, per the beats. Perez’s next start is slated for Tuesday, and he reportedly wants to try to make that start, but he apparently could end up missing it.
