The numbers for the Texas Rangers hitters so far this season

So, stop me if you’ve heard this before, but...the Rangers’ offense is generally okay, except for Jonathan Lucroy, Mike Napoli and Rougned Odor.

Yeah, I know, that’s been the story of this entire season. Elvis Andrus is showing his 2016 season wasn’t a fluke, Nomar Mazara has taken a step forward, Joey Gallo is putting up a freaky stat line that still has him with an OPS above 800, Carlos Gomez and Adrian Beltre have been very good when on the field. Oh, and there’s Delino DeShields, who has put up a decent OPS (though, as we have discussed, I’m skeptical that’s sustainable)...

And then there’s Napoli, Lucroy and Odor. All of them are south of a 700 OPS, with odor barely above 600. Napoli was always something of a risk, given his age and the fact he wasn’t really good a couple of years ago, but the offensive cratering of Odor and Lucroy is baffling. Lucroy is gone after this season, if not in July, so his problems ultimately aren’t that big of a deal long-term (except to the extent it hinders the team’s ability to recoup some of what they gave up to get him in the first place), but Odor is one of the young players the team expects to build around.
