Adrian Beltre injury: Texas Rangers third baseman Adrian Beltre has a sprained ankle, according to the Rangers, and is considered day-to-day.
Beltre turned his ankle running the bases in Tuesday’s game, and left in the later innings. With an off day on Thursday, the Rangers can give Beltre two full days of rest, and then evaluate him on Friday, when the team travels to Washington for a three game set.
The Rangers had already indicated they would likely add a fourth bench player for the Washington series, when there is no DH, and thus the team will need additional bench depth for pinch hitting for the pitcher purposes. If Beltre is ready to go on Friday, the team will likely call up one of Drew Robinson/Brett Nicholas to replace a pitcher give them a fourth bench player. If Beltre isn’t ready, a 10 day d.l. stint would seem to be likely, and two position players would be brought up.
