Texas Rangers catcher Robinson Chirinos suffered a sprained ankle on a play at home today against the Tampa Bay Rays. Although Chirinos was able to stay in for the rest of the inning, he was removed for a pinch hitter in the next half inning and taken for x-Rays, which were negative.
We shall wait and see what the prognosis for Chirinos is, but even if he is just day to day, it seems likely the Rangers will want Brett Nicholas up for tomorrow's game. Nicholas, currently at AAA Round Rock, is already on the 40 man roster, so just a 25 man roster move would be necessary.
