Texas Rangers prospect list: Leody Taveras is #32 in the MLB Pipeline top 100 which was just released, the only Ranger prospect in the top 100. MLB Pipeline also has an updated top 30 list for the Rangers.
Leody being the only Ranger in the top 100 is, I think, to be expected, although Ronald Guzman and Cole Ragans (who are #2 and #5 on the updated Ranger top 30) could end up sneaking into the back end of some lists with strong finishes to the minor league season.
Some of the more intriguing decisions on the Ranger list is having Yohander Mendez and Bubba Thompson at #3 and #4, ahead of Ragans, and Hans Crouse and Chris Seise being #6 and #7 on the list.
2017 third rounder Matt Whatley is also on the list at #25, which is higher than I would’ve expected, and is an indication that either the MLB Pipeline folks are more enthusiastic about Whatley than one would’ve thought, or they’re unimpressed with the group of players in the 26-40 range.
