MLB Trade Rumors: Yu Darvish and the New York Yankees seem like a trade match, as the Texas Rangers are rumored to be shopping Darvish, and Jon Heyman says the Yankees are “investigating” Yu Darvish as part of their hunt for pitching reinforcements.

The Yankees are apparently most interested in Oakland A’s pitcher Sonny Gray, who is under team control through 2019, but are finding the price prohibitive. Heyman says that the Yankees also have found the Rangers’ asking price on Darvish to be high, which has them considering Lance Lynn and Jamie Garcia as well. Garcia, of course, was just acquired by the Minnesota Twins, but they have seen their playoff hopes diminish since trading for him, and have reportedly been indicating they are willing to flip him.

The Yankees apparently don’t want to part with Clint Frazier or Gleyber Torres to acquire Gray, and those would be the two players that the Rangers would be most interested in in a Yu Darvish deal, so it may be that the asking price for Yu is too rich for the Yankees. With reports indicating that the Dodgers -- the other team viewed as a prime landing spot for Darvish — also don’t part with top prospects for a rental, we may end up in a situation where 3 p.m. on Monday comes and goes, and Yu Darvish is still a Texas Ranger.

That’s fine with me, of course...I’m not going to complain about getting to see Darvish pitch 10-12 more times for the Rangers.
