Baseball America has released their midseason top 100 prospect list, and once again, the Texas Rangers have just one representative on the list — outfielder Leody Taveras, who checks in at #34.
Taveras was #47 on the BA offseason list, and was the only Ranger player who made the cut then, as well. In Baseball Prospectus’s mid-season top 50 list, which came out yesterday, Taveras was also the only Ranger, at #30.
As far as former Ranger prospects go, Lewis Brinson is #16 on BA’s list, and Luis Ortiz, who went with Brinson to Milwaukee in the Jonathan Lucroy deal, is #66. Jorge Alfaro, who went to Philadelphia in the Cole Hamels trade, is #80 on the BA list.
