The Texas Rangers have activated Elvis Andrus from the paternity leave list, with Elvis having missed two games due to the birth of his son. To make room for Elvis on the active roster, the Rangers have optioned Jurickson Profar to AAA Round Rock.
Profar was called up to replace Elvis, and so I think it was pretty much a given that Profar would be sent back down when Elvis returned, despite Profar having a solid pair of games while up. Profar will resume playing shortstop every day in Round Rock, while the Rangers look for a trade partner who is seeking an every day shortstop and who is willing to part with something of value for Profar.
Meanwhile, Ernesto Frieri, who was designated for assignment on Monday when Jeremy Jeffress was activated from the disabled list, has cleared waivers and accepted an outright assignment to AAA Round Rock.
