The Texas Rangers have activated Tyson Ross, tonight's starting pitcher, from the disabled list. To make room for him on the active roster, the Rangers have optioned Ryan Rua to AAA Round Rock.
Rua was called up on July 31 after Jonathan Lucroy, Yu Darvish and Jeremy Jeffress, but never actually got into a game during that span. He will presumably get regular playing time at various positions in AAA until rosters expand in September.
As for Ross, he will continue to try to work his way back to...well, not where he was before shoulder problems and TOS surgery, but at least to being a viable major league pitcher. He hasn't been that so far this year, and at this point, it looks like he's basically auditioning for the rest of the year for a 2018 contract.
