The bad news: One turn through the rotation since the Rangers scored one run against the Astros in Andrew Cashner’s previous start, they could only muster three runs tonight for Cashner against a cavalcade of garbage White Sox pitchers. I guess we have our new Yu Darvish.
The good news: If the Rangers can win every game except the ones started by Andrew Cashner, they’re going to make the playoffs anyway.
Also, the Angels blew a 7-5 lead in the ninth inning in Baltimore and lost on a Manny Machado grand slam so I’m not sweating it.
Player of the Game: Mike Napoli hit a two-run home run off James Shields to give Texas a 2-1 lead and he eventually scored the Rangers’ third run on a Delino DeShields groundout.
Unfortunately for Texas, something called Nicky Delmonico hit a home run twice to give the White Sox a lead after Texas had come back including the eventual game-winning inside-the-park homer on a play where Nomar Mazara was injured at the wall attempting to make a catch.
Up Next: The Rangers try to get another winning streak started and look to old pal Derek Holland for an assist as the left hander makes his debut in a road uniform at The Ballpark. Martin Perez will make the start for Texas with first pitch scheduled for 7:05 pm CT.
