Carlos Gomez to disabled list, Phil Gosselin recalled

The Rangers have (finally) put Carlos Gomez on the d.l., recalling Phil Gosselin to replace him

The Texas Rangers have placed outfielder Carlos Gomez on the 10 day disabled list, retroactive to August 16, due to a cyst on his shoulder. To replace him on the 25 man roster, the Rangers have recalled Phil Gosselin from AAA Round Rock.

Gomez hasn't played since last Sunday due to the cyst, and while the hope had been that he would not need a d.l. trip, the problem is apparently not going away quickly enough. He is being d.l.'d retroactive to the 16th because that's as far back as it can be made retroactive to.

Gosselin is not likely to play except in garbage time or in an emergency, so the Rangers are basically going with Drew Robinson as their only non-catcher bench guy who would actually get into a game for the time being.
