The Texas Rangers and Globe Life are extending their naming rights partnership through 2048, the team announced today. The Rangers’ new retractable roof stadium, which is expected to open for the 2020 season, will be known as Globe Life Field.

This was foreseeable once the Rangers announced yesterday that there would be a press conference today about the naming rights for the new stadium. Given that Globe Life currently has the name rights for the existing stadium, it would be a bit odd to, almost three years ahead of time, announce that the new field would be named by someone else.

In any case, the Rangers will be playing at a stadium named for Globe Life through the 2048 season, by which time we will probably all have uploaded ourselves into giant computers anyway.
