Rangers series preview: Oakland A’s

The Rangers will play the 55-72 Oakland A’s for player’s weekend as they come into the series above .500 for the first time since the end of June.

Texas is 7-3 for their last 10 after taking a four game series in L.A. Oakland is 4-6.

GAME ONE

Tricky AKA Nick Martinez will make Friday’s start against the team he’s dominated. In six starts at Oakland, he’s 4-0 with a 1.26 ERA which is his lowest at any ballpark he’s made at least three appearances in. Opponents average .198 at the O.Co.

Graveman, or Digger as he will be known for the weekend, will get the start against Texas on Friday, he’s 1-2 with a 4.95 ERA in his last seven starts. In six starts against the Rangers, he’s 2-2 with a 5.20 ERA.

GAME TWO

Hollywood will face Da Kid (Sean Manaea) in Saturday’s game. It’ll be his firsts start against Oakland since last September, he’s 2-1 with a 2.94 in five career starts against the Athletics.

Da Kid is 1-2 with a 4.97 ERA in his career against the Rangers. He’s 8-8 with a 4.58 ERA on the season. In his last start he got the loss after going six innings against Houston. He gave up three runs on six hits and walk. He’s currently 1-3 for his last seven starts with a 6.96 ERA and he’s given up 30 runs (only 25 earned) in 32.1 innings in those seven starts.

GAME THREE

Players weekend will end with Sweet Lettuce vs Squeaky. This will be the fourth time this year Sweet Lettuce has faced Oakland. He’s 1-0 with a 5.02 ERA in those starts.

Squeaky (Jharel Cotton) has faced the Rangers two times previously, he’s 1-1 with a 4.38 ERA in those starts. He got the win against Houston in his last start after going six innings and gave up two runs on four hits and three walks.
