64-64 - Nick was Tricky but Khris Davis Khrushed the Rangers in 3-1 loss

Back to .500 we go

MLB: Texas Rangers at Oakland Athletics Neville E. Guard-USA TODAY Sports

I don’t think I’ve ever seen a pitcher give up nine hits and pitch better than Kendall Graveman pitched tonight.

“Digger” Graveman — who has become something of thorn in the Rangers’ side — was painting the lower part of the zone and getting the calls on the corners.

Even though the Rangers had runners on base, Graveman ever really seemed like he was in danger partly because he induced three double plays.

This must be what it’s like for other teams when they face Martin Perez and he’s throwing well.

Player of the Game: It’s hard to fault Nick Martinez as “Tricky” Nick tossed seven innings of four-hit ball with two of the hits coming off the bat of Khris “Khrush” (nickname should really be “Rangers Killer”) Davis for two solo home runs to account for two of the A’s three runs.

Martinez struck out seven A’s hitters in his return to the rotation and deserved a better fate than a loss.

Up Next: The Rangers and A’s play again tomorrow with Cole “Hollywood” Hamels trying to right the ship once again against LHP Sean “Da Kid” Manaea. First pitch from Oakland is scheduled for 3:05 pm CT.
