53-58 - Rangers nearly blow out Twins, lose 6-5 instead

Texas will have to settle for a series split with Minnesota after losing the finale today

MLB: Texas Rangers at Minnesota Twins Brad Rempel-USA TODAY Sports

If Yu Darvish had not been traded, today would have been his turn in the rotation. How can you tell Yu Darvish isn’t here anymore? The Rangers scored five runs before the Twins even came up to bat.

How can you tell it’s still 2017? The Rangers lost 6-5 anyway. But, hey, it’s not all bad:

Player of the Game: Adrian Beltre hit a three-run home run on the one week anniversary of his 3,000th hit. He also got hit flush in the head by a Mike Napoli foul ball and stayed in the game because he’s made of granite.

Up Next: The Rangers sandwich a two-game series against the New York Mets in between two days off beginning with a day off Monday. In Tuesday’s opener, someone who isn’t Yu Darvish will pitch for Texas so it’s whatever.
