The Texas Rangers have traded relief pitcher Ernesto Frieri to the Seattle Mariners for cash considerations, the team has announced.
Yeah, I'd forgotten he was still in the organization, too.
Frieri, you may recall, was signed to a minor league deal earlier in the year. The Rangers called him up in mid-June, and then after six outings, waived him in early July. Frieri cleared waivers and accepted an outright assignment to AAA Round Rock, where he has been toiling since then.
Frieri isn't on the 40 man roster and wasn't going to get called up again, so this is just a matter of sending a guy elsewhere to a team that might have a use for him.
