If you’re firmly a member of #teamtank, tonight was a good night. Adrian Beltre homered. Joey Gallo hit one to Long Island for his 31st of the year and doubled in another run. The Rangers lost anyway.
If you’re a member of #teamwatchablebaseball, tonight wasn’t a very good night. Texas scored just three runs off of whatever a Chris Flexen is and saved their fourth run for two-outs in the ninth.
Other than Gallo and Beltre, the offense looked spectacularly inept all night with only Carlos Gomez and Robinson Chirinos contributing hits against a pitcher in Flexen making his third career start who came into the game with a career ERA of 12.00.
The Rangers are now six games under .500 and need a win tomorrow to avoid tying their season-worst seven games low water mark from May.
Player of the Game: Gallo went 2-for-4 with two extra base hits and two runs driven in as he continues a torrid second half that gives us hope not just for 2018 but for something to tune in to watch in 2017.
Up Next: The Rangers and Mets play an early, early, early Wednesday morning game with TBA set to throw against someone on the Mets who isn’t Thor, deGrom, Matz, Wheeler, Lugo, Gsellman, or hell, even Matt Harvey. First pitch from Flushing is scheduled for 11:10 am CT.
