72-71 — Rangers play well, win the game

Texas takes the series opener against Seattle behind Cole Hamels and early runs

MLB: Seattle Mariners at Texas Rangers Jerome Miron-USA TODAY Sports

Well, that was good...Texas jumped out on the M's early on, got a quality start from Cole Hamels, and then saw Matt Bush, Jake Diekman and Alex Claudio finish it out.

Nomar Mazara and Shin-Soo Choo each had two-RBI doubles for 80% of the scoring, and Delino DeShields hit a home run to cap things off.

Texas gets back to within two games of the Twins, and barring a big comeback by the Royals, will trail only Minnesota and the Angels for the WC2 spot.
