This has been a bad couple of days for the Texas Rangers. Two bad losses to Seattle, at home, at a time when the Rangers have to win games to stay in the playoff hunt, have left the Rangers’ wild card chances hanging by a thread. Texas is four games back of Minnesota, has a bunch of hurting regulars, an incomplete rotation, and a bullpen that has been problematic all year.
2017 has been weird, and every time I’ve been ready to write this team off they’ve pulled themselves off the mat and gotten back into it, but time is running out. When Adrian Beltre came up to the plate pinch hitting yesterday, still not healthy, batting as the go-ahead run, I thought to myself...this could be that big moment. Beltre could go deep, the stands would go nuts, the momentum would take the Rangers on a winning streak, things will be great...
And Beltre flied out. And then the game got out of hand late. And Texas is playing Seattle tonight looking to salvage a split, which, on the heels of losing two of three to New York, and with the team about to head out to the West Coast on a road trip, that’s simply not good enough.
So where do you stand on this right now? Have you written off this team, or do you still believe in the 2017 Rangers?
