At one point as this game was getting underway, the Twins were losing to the Blue Jays and a win by the Angels were have allowed Anaheim the opportunity to tie Minnesota for the second Wild Card spot in the American League.
The Twins ended up winning anyway and then the Rangers beat Anaheim and now the Angels are two games back. The Rangers aren’t going to make the playoffs but I would like it if the Angels did not either.
Also, Joey Gallo hit a baseball 490 feet.
Player of the Game: Adrian Beltre doubled in two runs in the first inning and collected another hit later in the game. Those two hits were as many hits as the entire Angels team had until Mike Trout homered in the eighth. Adrian Beltre is weeks away from being healthy.
Up Next: The Rangers have the day off yesterday before opening up a series against the Mariners in Seattle.
