76-77 - Rangers remain hopeless against Graveman, A’s

Very predictably the Rangers could not beat Kendall Graveman and the A’s, lose 4-1

MLB: Texas Rangers at Oakland Athletics Neville E. Guard-USA TODAY Sports

Here’s the PGT from August 25 when the Rangers lost to the A’s in a game between Nick Martinez and Kendall Graveman.

I’ll paste it because the Rangers just played and lost the exact same game. Why waste precious brainpower to write it again?

I don’t think I’ve ever seen a pitcher give up nine six hits and walk three and pitch better than Kendall Graveman pitched tonight.

“Digger” Graveman — who has become something of thorn in the Rangers’ side — was painting the lower part of the zone and getting the calls on the corners.

Even though the Rangers had runners on base, Graveman ever really seemed like he was in danger partly because he induced three one double plays.

This must be what it’s like for other teams when they face Martin Perez and he’s throwing well.

Player of the Game: It’s hard to fault Nick Martinez as “Tricky” Nick tossed seven six innings of four five-hit ball with two of the hits coming off the bat of Khris “Khrush” (nickname should really be “Rangers Killer”) Davis for two solo home runs to account for Matt Olson connecting for two of the A’s three earned runs.

Martinez struck out seven six A’s hitters in his return to the rotation and deserved a better fate than a loss.

Up Next: The Rangers and A’s play again tomorrow with Cole “Hollywood” Hamels Miguel Gonzalez trying to right the ship once again against LHP Sean “Da Kid” Manaea. First pitch from Oakland is scheduled for 3:05 pm CT 8:05 pm CT.
