Go ahead and put Rickey Henderson Field at Oakland Coliseum at No. 1 on your list of Houses of Horror for the Texas Rangers as their 1-7 record in The House That Eric Sogard Built all but doomed them in 2017.
Texas is now 4.5 games behind the Minnesota Twins in the AL Wild Card race and you can pretty much put a fork directly into their heart. They’re done.
Player of the Game: Miguel Gonzalez allowed a solo home run to Khris Davis — which, I mean, who hasn’t? — and got himself into a bases loaded, no outs jam in the second inning.
Gonzalez wiggled through the trouble without allowing another run and then didn’t allow an A’s hitter to reach second base again the rest of the night.
Gonzalez gave the Rangers six innings of one-run ball, which, against the dang Oakland Athletics, should be more than enough to pick up a win. It wasn’t.
Up Next: The Rangers can end this embarrassing streak against the A’s in Oakland with a win tomorrow afternoon in the final road game of 2017 for Texas. Martin Perez makes the start for Texas against RHP Jharel Cotton of Oakland. First pitch is scheduled for 3:05 pm CT.
