Rangers series preview: Battle for the Basement

The last series of the year is a battle for last place

MLB: Houston Astros at Texas Rangers Andrew Dieb-USA TODAY Sports

It’s come down to the final series of the year. They lost the silver boot and now the big question is, will they become the cellar dwellers of the west?

So lets just get down to it. The only thing left to hope for is praying the Rangers don’t get swept. A sweep would mean the Rangers would be last in the west and that would also mean a 10-game losing streak to end the season.

Elvis Andrus is currently batting .299, should he make it to and keep it at .300, he’d have back-to-back seasons at .300. With his 20 homers, he’s also had back-to-back seasons of breaking his own home run record.

Joey Gallo is one away from 40 home runs for the season, he’d be the first Ranger to hit 40 since Hamilton hit 43 in 2012.

If Robinson Chirinos and Carlos Gomez hit three more homers, the Rangers would have eight players with 20+ home runs. Last year they just had five players, in 2015 they had just three.

The Rangers need one win to guarantee they won’t be last in the division.

Just.

One.

Win.

Can’t be too hard right?
