The Texas Rangers have recalled outfielder Jared Hoying and pitcher Yohander Mendez today, John Blake announced on Twitter.

Today is the final day of the season for both Round Rock, where Hoying had been playing, and Frisco, where Mendez has spent the year. Hoying gives the Rangers a quality defensive center fielder and pinch running option for the final month of the season, while Mendez gives the Rangers an extra long relief arm.

After today's games I would assume we will see some additional call ups, with Jurickson Profar, Ronald Guzman and Connor Sadzeck being the players most likely to get a look. In addition, Ryan Rua will presumably be back up when his ten day waiting period after being optioned is up.

In addition, Anthony Bass, who had previously been designated for assignment, accepted an outright assignment to AAA Round Rock.

The Rangers now have 31 players on the active roster.

UPDATE — The Rangers are apparently not recalling Guzman, Profar or Willie Calhoun.
