Tuesday Morning Texas Rangers Update

Celebrating Pudge Rodriguez and Adrian Beltre immortality since July 30, 2017

MLB: Texas Rangers at Atlanta Braves Brett Davis-USA TODAY Sports

Good morning.

Levi Weaver recaps the Rangers’ 8-2 win over the Braves which was comforting in how little drama it held.

After giving a positive review to Atlanta’s new park/entertainment complex, Jeff Wilson reacted to the win which the Rangers achieved without needing high leverage innings from the bullpen.

Jaylon Thompson’s game story focuses on the latest strong start from Andrew Cashner while Cashner sung the praises of Robinson Chirinos behind the dish.

Evan Grant writes that the Rangers need Rougned Odor to help fill the Adrian Beltre-less gap in the lineup and delivered last night.

Thompson notes that though Ronald Guzman could probably produce better than Mike Napoli right now, Jurickson Profar is probably going to file a grievance, and Willie Calhoun was vocal with his disappointment by the decision, the Rangers aren’t likely to recall the Round Rock trio.

Grant writes the latest chapter of the sad tale of Jurickson Profar. A Hank Blalock for a new generation.

Wilson takes a stab at parsing why Profar isn’t up with a Rangers team that will be recalling Phil Gosselin today.

As Thompson notes, however, that the Rangers did recall Jared Hoying and Yohander Mendez so they’re not total heartless monsters.

Wilson looks at Mendez’s return to the Rangers after his cup of coffee last season and how the young lefty spent all of 2017 working on fastball command in Double-A.

MLB.com’s Cody Pace previews tonight's game between the Rangers and Braves with Miguel Gonzalez making his Texas debut in Atlanta.

Elvis Andrus and Shin-Soo Choo gave Wilson a scouting report on Gonzalez that was akin to “that annoying pitcher you know your team should beat the crap out of but somehow doesn’t.”

And, lastly, who said Willie Calhoun can’t play defense?

Have a nice day!
