Keith Law released part 2 of his top 100 MLB prospect list — the players in the 1-50 range — and just one Texas Ranger prospect, Leody Taveras, made the cut. Taveras, the Rangers’ switch-hitting center fielder who turned 19 in September, checked in at #45.

The Rangers placing just Taveras on Law’s list is something of a surprise, as Willie Calhoun seems to be viewed as a consensus top-100 prospect, though Law has been one of the low guys on Calhoun due to Calhoun’s lack of defensive ability. Taveras, on the other hand, Law sees as a potential 70-grade defensive centerfielder whose future will be determined by how his power develops.
