The Texas Rangers interviewed Los Angeles Dodgers third base coach Chris Woodward today as part of their managerial search, according to Ken Rosenthal. Rosenthal says Woodward did extremely well, and that he and Derek Shelton are both strong candidates for the job.
The 42 year old Woodward has been coaching since retiring from playing at the end of 2012. He has spent the last three seasons as the Dodgers’ third base coach, and has gotten a fair amount of buzz as a future manager.
Shelton, the Minnesota Twins’ bench coach, was first mentioned as interviewing with the Rangers earlier this week.
It remains to be seen if the team will interview any more candidates, though at this point I’ve lost count of who all they’ve talked to.
