The 2018 Most Valuable Players Awards have been announced, and Mookie Betts and Christian Yelich are the winners in the American League and National League, respectively.
Yelich, who had a breakout year while leading the Milwaukee Brewers to the NLCS, was the first place pick of 29 or the 30 voters. Jacob DeGrom, who finished fifth overall, got the other first place vote. Javier Baéz finished second in the balloting, with Nolan Arenado finishing third and Freddie Freeman fourth. In the quirky voting category, Nick Markakis got two 10th place votes.
Betts received 28 of 30 first place votes. Mike Trout, who finished second, hit a first place vote from Rangers beat guy Jeff Wilson, and fourth place finisher J.D. Martinez also got a first place vote. Jose Ramirez was third, and Alex Bregman finished fifth.
