Texas Rangers transactions: The New York Yankees have claimed infielder Hanser Alberto on waivers from the Texas Rangers, the team announced today. Alberto, 26, is a utility infielder who appeared in 13 games for the Rangers in 2018.

Hanser Alberto was non-tendered by the Rangers last season after missing the 2017 campaign with a shoulder problem. Re-signed to a minor league deal, he spent most of the 2018 season in Round Rock. Alberto has a career .192/.210/.231 slash line in 89 games, also logging time in the majors in 2015 and 2016.

With players on the 60 day disabled list needing to be activated and returned to the 40 man roster today, the Rangers most likely put a number of players on waivers recently, most of whom presumably cleared, and will be announced later today. As for Alberto, expect to see him show back up on the waiver wire later this offseason, as the Yankees try to sneak him through waivers and outright him.
