Baseball Prospectus has their top 101 prospect list out, and the Texas Rangers are well represented, with four of their prospects cracking the list.
Outfielder Leody Taveras, of course, is the top Ranger on the list, checking in at #28, which is, I believe, the highest he’s been on any of the major offseason top 100 prospect lists. OF/DH Willie Calhoun, meanwhile, is at #43.
Taveras and Calhoun are the pair of Rangers that have been on most lists, but a couple of Ranger prospects also snuck in on the back end of the BP top 101. First baseman Ronald Guzman is at #94 on the list, while righthanded pitcher Mike Matuella, on the heels of his first healthy season as a pro, claimed the #101 spot.
If you are curious about former Rangers, Lewis Brinson, now with the Marlins, is at #18, while Jorge Alfaro is all the way up at #36.
