MLB: Spring Training-Texas Rangers at Oakland Athletics Rick Scuteri-USA TODAY Sports

Good morning.

Despite the looming threat of Jarrod Dyson, Delino DeShields will be the center fielder and leadoff hitter for the Rangers in 2018.

Drew Davison writes that Bartolo Colon pitched well against basically the regular season lineup of the Angels yesterday.

T.R. Sullivan notes that the Rangers will get a couple more looks at Colon before they have to make a decision about adding him to the roster.

Perhaps helping Colon’s rotation chances, Davison notes that Matt Bush is heading back to the bullpen after a bid to become a starter.

Sullivan writes that Bush will be utilized in a multi-inning fireman role in middle relief as a bridge to the late innings.

Kevin Sherrington writes that, get this, even after two weeks of lackluster spring training numbers, the Rangers would still take Shohei Ohtani if they could.

And, lastly, Jamey Newberg’s ranking of the top first base prospects in the Rangers system kind of begins and ends with Ronald Guzman because, let’s face it, first base is where prospects go to die.

Have a nice day!
