It’s the fourth game of the year and I’m already just kind of shrugging.
The bottom of the order went 0-fer again until Drew Robinson hit a solo home run in the bottom of the eighth. *shrug*
In fact, hitters three through nine went a combined 1-for-23 with ten strikeouts with only Adrian Beltre and Rougned Odor reaching via walks before Robinson’s homer. *shrug*
Ryan Rua went 0-for-3 with three Ks as the Rangers opted to sit Shin-Soo Choo against a right-hander for Rua. *shrug*
Rua, here because the Rangers don’t think Willie Calhoun is ready defensively, fumbled his second ball in this series in left field that contributed to the wheels falling off. *shrug*
The starter (who is probably a reliever) couldn’t make it out of the fifth despite pitching pretty well. *shrug*
The bullpen, heavily worked after the four starters combined to throw just 19 1⁄3 inning in this series, allowed multiple runs to score in the fifth, sixth, seventh, and one in the ninth. *shrug*
The Rangers are 1-3. *shrug*
Player of the Game: Joey Gallo hit his first home run of the season and it was a solo shot to left field that barely got over the wall so it was weird. That home run actually gave the Rangers a 1-0 lead before things went south. Gallo also singled in the eighth to complete a 2-for-4 day at the plate.
Up Next: The Rangers are making their first road of the year to Oakland with Bartolo Colon set to make his debut with Texas. The A’s will counter with RHP Andrew Triggs. First pitch is scheduled for 9:05 pm CT. Save us, Bart!
