4-10 - Rangers lose 7-2. Rinse. Repeat.

Groundhog Day in Arlington continues as Rangers are swept

Maybe this season would feel a little better if the Rangers would actually play a different game than the exact same one they’ve played nearly every night for the first two weeks of the season.

It’s starting to feel like I recorded a Rangers game on the DVR and every night at 7:05 I tune in and “Then put your little hand in mine, there ain’t no hill or mountain we can’t climb...”

I mentioned yesterday on Twitter that it felt like the Rangers had trailed 5-1 in 80% of the innings on the year. Of course, then they go out and trail 5-1 for most of the game.

How about a little variety in your terrible baseball, Rangers?

Matt Moore didn’t have a start anyone would call particularly good — he allowed ten baserunners and struck out two — and it didn’t even last long enough to be a traditional quality start, but three runs in five innings is a good result for 2018 Matt Moore and an amazing one for the 2018 Texas Rangers. Three runs in five innings is what we’ll call a 2018 Rangers quality start.

Unfortunately for Texas, those three runs and the four more they tacked on against the bullpen were more than enough for the Angels against a Rangers team that appears to be deathly allergic to base hits with runners on base.

The Rangers had just five hits but also drew six walks to leave eleven more on base tonight. Texas didn’t have a hit with runners in scoring position until there were two outs in the ninth.

P.S. The hit with RISP extended the game and allowed Elvis Andrus to bat and he was promptly hit by a 96 MPH fastball to his forearm and fell down hurt because this whole thing is cursed.

Player of the Game: Ryan Rua hit a solo home run and until the eighth inning that was the Rangers’ only hit. So, yeah, this is a low.

Up Next: The Rangers have the day off but will somehow still lose a game 5-1.
