Ronald Guzman promoted, Elvis Andrus to 10 day disabled list

The Rangers officially announced that Ronald Guzman has been promoted from AAA Round Rock, and Elvis Andrus has been placed on the 10 day disabled list

Texas Rangers transactions: Ronald Guzman and Elvis Andrus moves are now official, with the Texas Rangers announcing Guzman has been promoted from AAA Round Rock, and Elvis has been placed on the 10 day disabled list.

This move was reported as being in the works yesterday, with Guzman, who only plays first base, expected to see time at first, while Joey Gallo, who has been playing first base this season, getting work in the outfield. Ryan Rua and Drew Robinson will get playing time in center field for the time being, with Robinson also getting time at second base, along with Isiah Kiner-Falefa.

Once Delino DeShields comes off the d.l., he will presumably resume full time center field duties, and the Rangers will have to decide whether to send Guzman back down, which would mean Gallo would go back to first base, or Kiner-Falefa, which would mean Gallo would be the semi-regular in left field with Robinson staying at second.

DeShields has said he wants to return on April 20, but he’s probably more realistically a couple of weeks away. Odor is also expected back in two to three weeks, which means Rua, Robinson and Guzman basically have that long to effectively audition for continuing to stay up once both DeShields and Odor are healthy.
