Texas Rangers week in review and series preview

Taking a look back at the week that was, and previewing the three game set in Tampa that starts today

MLB: Texas Rangers at Houston Astros Shanna Lockwood-USA TODAY Sports

Baseball is a fickle sport. We’ve been on a wild ride this week, haven’t we? From Wednesday:

To Sunday:

THEY WON A SERIES. IN EXTRA INNINGS. AGAINST THE ASTROS!

Bartolo Colon threw seven perfect innings against the Astros on Sunday.

They brought up Isiah Kiner-Falefa and Ronald Guzman and the baby Rangers are doing things. Including getting their first major league homers on Saturday’s win against the Astros.

On Monday they lost their starting second baseman Rougned Odor to a hamstring strain. Wednesday, they lost their starting shortstop Elvis Andrus to a fractured elbow. Doug Fister also went on the DL with a hip strain.

Now 6-11, they head to Tampa with back-to-back wins under their belt, to play a three game set against the Rays.

Martin Perez will pitch Monday’s game against the Rays, while Tampa will put Blake Snell on the mound.

Tuesday’s match-up will feature Matt Moore and the Rays’ starter is TBD.

Wednesday’s afternoon game will have Hamels making his fourth start and Jake Faria making his fourth.
