Rangers Series Preview: Oakland A’s

The Rangers head to Oakland for a short four game road trip.

Bartolo Colon will make his Ranger debut in tonight’s game. Hamels will pitch game two, Fister will be on the mound for game three, and Martin Perez will be taken off the D.L to make his first start of the season in the getaway game on Thursday.

GAME ONE

Colon last faced Oakland in July of last season. He got the no decision after going 6.1 innings, he gave up three runs on eight hits. He struck out one and walked on. He has a 2.53 ERA and a 3.21 FIP with 64 strikeouts in 96 innings in his career against Oakland.

The Rangers will face RHP Andrew Triggs. He’s faced the Rangers twice in the last two season, he got a win and a no decision. In his short career against the Rangers he has a 0.71 ERA and a 2.13 FIP with eight strikeouts in 12.2 innings.

GAME TWO

Cole Hamels will make his second start of the season.

Hamels has a 4.39 ERA and a 5.29 FIP with 33 strikeouts in 41 innings pitched in his career against Oakland.

In Hamels first start he went 5.2, gavup up three runs on five hits. He walked four, struck out seven, and gave up two homers.

Kendall Graveman will make his ninth career start against the Rangers. He’s struck out 28 in 50.1 innings with a 4.11 ERA and a 4.04 FIP in his career against the Rangers.

In Graveman’s first start of the season, he went five innings and gave up five runs on seven hits. He struck out one and gave up three homers.

GAME THREE

In Fister’s first start as a Ranger, he went five innings giving up one run on four hits and three walks with three strike outs.

Fister has a 3.28 ERA and a 3.50 FIP with 67 strikeouts in 107 innings in his career against Oakland.

He last faced Oakland in September where he got the loss. He went just four innings and gave up six runs on six hits and one walk with four strike outs.

LHP Sean Manaea will get the start for the A’s. He held the Angels to one run, a solo homer by Trout, in his season debut on Friday. He went 7.2 IP and gave up just four hits.

In his career against the Texas Rangers, Manaea has 41 strike outs in 40.1 IP with a 3.98 ERA and a 3.45 FIP.

GAME FOUR

Martin Perez will make his 2018 debut on Thursday afternoon in O.Co. IN his career against the A’s he has a 5.24 ERA with a 4.05 FIP and 52 strikeouts in 87.2 innings.

His last game against Oakland was in September of last season, he went six innings and gave up three runs on five hits, he walked two and struck out two.

Daniel Mengden will be on the mound for Oakland, in his start on Saturday, he went 5.2 IP and gave up six runs (five earned,) he struck out five and walked one.

His career ERA against the Rangers is 2.50 with a 3.37 FIP and he’s truck out 20 in 18 innings. He’s pitched three games against them.
