Adrian Beltre to DL, Fister & Rua return, Bush to Round Rock

The Rangers have made their latest moves to patch their obliterated roster

MLB: Oakland Athletics at Texas Rangers Andrew Dieb-USA TODAY Sports

As expected, Adrian Beltre has indeed hit the 10-day disabled list after coming out of last night’s game. There is good news — if missing even one moment of Adrian Beltre could be considered good — in that Beltre’s hamstring injury is one a grade 1 strain which is the least severe variety. Still, the Rangers and our hearts will be without Beltre for a few weeks at the minimum.

Ryan Rua is back once again in Beltre’s stead. Rua should just get to stay at the hidden apartment at The Ballpark whenever he’s sent to Round Rock because the Rangers are never truly rid of Rua.

Rua will serve as a member of the bench while it appears Isiah Kiner-Falefa will slide over to man third base with Drew Robinson becomes the latest new second baseman.

As expected, Doug Fister returns from his DL stint to make the start tonight. Perhaps unexpected, Matt Bush has been optioned to Round Rock to make room for Fister.

The move is really only unexpected because Bush was seen as one of the major entrenched parts of the bullpen heading into the season but he’s struggled a bit this year with a 4.76 ERA, had options, and had most recently pitched in the last four games. The writing was on the wall.
