2018 Mock Draft: Texas Rangers go prep pitcher in Baseball America mock draft

Baseball America has a new mock draft out, and this one includes a projection for the Rangers pick at #15

2018 mock draft: Baseball America has their new mock draft out, and while the previous mock draft only covered the top 10 picks, this version goes through the top 15 picks, and thus includes the Texas Rangers’ pick at #15. BA has the Rangers going with Texas prep pitcher Grayson Rodriguez, a big, projectable righthander, at #15.

MLB Pipeline has Rodriguez at #28 on their draft rankings, referencing Forrest Whitley while talking about Rodriguez shooting up the charts in his senior year after improving his conditioning. BA’s draft rankings have Rodriguez at #23. He fits the mold of what the Rangers generally look for, guys with big ceilings and upside.

I’ve seen talk from some Rangers fans about wanting Texas to get Joey Bart, the Georgia Tech catcher, but BA has him going to the San Francisco Giants at #2, and the chances of him sliding to #15 at this point seem remote. Even if the Giants don’t grab him at 2, he seems a lock to go in the top 10.
