16-25 - Rangers suffer rare loss to Astros 6-1

Charlie Morton tossed the ol’ Uncle Charlie by the Rangers a whole bunch and the Rangers lost

I’ll admit that the headline up there is mostly to annoy Astros fans who will read it from AJM’s Twitter feed but it is funny that while the Astros are leaps and bounds better than the Rangers this year, the Rangers can continued to keep pace with them in head-to-head matchups. This would have driven me crazy if the roles were reversed.

Tonight, however, the Astros looked like the Astros and the Rangers looked like the Rangers. Texas struck out 16 times against Houston pitching including 14 times to Astros starter Charlie Morton who seemed to correctly scout that his curveball would be untouchable tonight.

Nevertheless, the Rangers could still pull off another series win at Minute Maid with a win tomorrow afternoon.

Player of the Game: Condor Guzman appears to enjoy hitting at Minute Maid as he hit his second career dinger tonight at the same joint where he enjoyed his first. Unfortunately for Texas, it was the only run the Rangers would score on the evening.

Up Next: Matt Moore will try to bounce back from a couple of terrible outings in the rubber match against LHP Dallas Keuchel. First pitch from Minute Maid Park is scheduled for 1:10 pm CT.
