Texas Rangers minor league outfielder Eric Jenkins is arguably the best athlete in the Texas Rangers’ system, and his amazing catch for Down East on Sunday put that athleticism on display.
Playing left field for the Wood Ducks, the Rangers’ high-A Carolina League affiliate, Jenkins chased down a high fly ball in foul territory, and then, as he caught it, hit the fence down the line, did a flip, landed on his feet, and immediately threw the ball back in:
Jenkins, who was the Rangers’ second round draft pick in 2015, is considered a terrific defender at all three outfield positions. Jenkins started the season at low-A Hickory, where he put up a .291/.339/.447 slash line, before getting promoted to Down East. In 74 plate appearances for the Ducks, Jenkins is slashing .250/.301/.338.
