13-20 - Rangers blast Boston to open homestand with big win

Texas scores a season high 11 runs in victory over Boston

MLB: Boston Red Sox at Texas Rangers Tim Heitman-USA TODAY Sports

Coming into tonight, if you had told me the final score of tonight’s baseball game between the Rangers and Red Sox would be 11-5 I would have nodded and congratulated Boston on their impressive 23rd win of the young season while beginning the process of mentally preparing myself for the next thrashing.

However, it was actually the 20-loss Rangers who scored the 11 runs and handed the Red Sox just their 9th loss of the year.

Huh. Weird.

Player of the Game: Nomar Mazara did two things tonight. 1) he hit a two-run double in the bottom of the third to give Texas a nice early cushion, and 2) he hit a three-run home run in the next frame to finish off a six-run fourth for the Rangers and turn this one into a laugher.

Up Next: The Rangers will look to hand the Red Sox just their 10th loss and they will have their April Player of the Month Bartolo Colon on the mound to try to do so. Boston will counter with RHP Rick Porcello in a battle of former Cy Young award winners. First pitch from Arlington is scheduled for 7:05 pm CT.
