2018 MLB mock draft: With the 2018 MLB draft just days a few days away, Jonathan Mayo has a new mock draft out, with the Texas Rangers taking high school righthander Carter Stewart in his most recent version. Stewart is a 6’6”, 200 lb. hard throwing righthander who could well be off the board before the Rangers pick, but who would be an attractive option for them if he drops to them.

We did a write-up on Stewart three weeks ago, and BA currently has him #9 on their top 500 board, while he is #5 on the MLB Pipeline rankings.

Mayo has Jarred Kelenic and Connor Scott, two high school bats the Rangers have been linked to, off the board before Texas picks. Grayson Rodriguez, a righthanded high school pitcher out of Nacogdoches, doesn’t go until #22 in Mayo’s latest mock, and the folks at Fangraphs mentioned that they’ve heard Texas would take Rodriguez if he slips to them.
