Rangers Week in Review & Series Preview

Looking back at the week that was, and forward to the series with Detroit

MLB: Boston Red Sox at Texas Rangers Kevin Jairaj-USA TODAY Sports

Rangers lost a three game series in Cleveland and a four game series against Boston at home this week. It’s only a month into the season and I’m finding it hard to write these weekly recaps only because I’ll be honest, everything is blurring together. I had to look up who the Rangers played earlier this week because I barely remember the Boston series let alone the Cleveland season.

Also, please tell me I’m not the only one having trouble keeping up with who was called up and who was sent down? Every day I have to check to see if Ryan Rua is a Ranger today or starting the trek back to Round Rock.

I know the Rangers have some great moments within terrible games, like Nomar Mazara hitting home runs in four straight games this week, or Joey Gallo making an amazing catch. But to me I forget about them the moment the Rangers do something very Rangers.

So what do y’all want to read in these week in reviews? It’s obviously much easier to write when they’re playing good baseball but as we’ve seen it’s not so great this season, so tell me what you want from these recaps so it’s better than me just reminding you the terrible, awfulness that you’d like to forget.

Texas will start this week ending the home stand with a three game series against Detroit.

Monday’s game will have Matt Moore attempting to pitch for the Rangers and Michael Fulmer. Moore still doesn’t have a win at home in four starts and his ERA is 7.79, so that’s fun. Fulmer is 1-2 with a 2.80 ERA.

Tuesday, Detroit will have starting pitcher Mike Fiers on the mound. In his last start he allowed five runs on six hits in four innings. He’s 2-2 with a 5.00 ERA this season but 0-3 with an 8.90 ERA against the Rangers. Mike Minor will make the start for the Rangers.

In the series finale, Francisco Liriano will make the start for the Tigers. He got the no-decision in his last start against Kansas after throwing seven shut out innings. Bartolo Colon will pitch for the Rangers.

How will the Rangers do in this three game set against Detroit?
