2018 MLB Draft: The Texas Rangers announced today the signing of their top five draft picks in the 2018 MLB Draft. Those selections were:
First round — Cole Winn, RHP
Second round — Owen White, RHP
Third round — Jonathan Ornelas, SS
Fourth round — Mason Englert, RHP
Fifth round — Jayce Easley, SS
All five players are high schoolers, and the Rangers reportedly went above slot to get White, Englert and Easley to forego their college options. Indications are that all of the Rangers’ first ten picks will sign.
Most likely, all five of these players will report to the Rangers’ Rookie League team in Arizona, although it is possible that Winn, who is considered advanced for a high school pitcher, could end up with Spokane in the Northwest League at some point this summer.
