Carlos Perez to the disabled list, Ryan Rua up

New, comments

The Rangers have placed catcher Carlos Perez on the 10 day disabled list with a sprained ankle, and have recalled Ryan Rua

Texas Rangers transactions: Carlos Perez has been placed on the 10 day disabled list, the Rangers announced today. Taking his place on the active roster is Ryan Rua, who has been recalled from AAA Round Rock.

Perez was injured on a play at the plate last night, and was replaced in the game by Jose Trevino, who was only up because Robinson Chirinos was serving a one game suspension and the Rangers wanted a catcher on the bench. Trevino will back up Chirinos while Perez is out.

Rua will presumably be dropped from the 25 man roster tomorrow when the Rangers add Yovani Gallardo. With Gallardo needing a 40 man roster spot as well, and Elvis Andrus being activated from the 60 day disabled list on Monday, Rua could be in jeopardy of losing his 40 man roster spot in the next few days, as well.
